About the Board
Rose Robinson, Board Chair
Rosario "Rose" Robinson is a seasoned executive, technologist, and the CEO and Founder of JEDInsight, a firm dedicated to driving equitable innovation across the healthcare, government, and nonprofit sectors. With a multi-decade background in software engineering and enterprise architecture, Rose serves as the Founder and Chair of the Savannah State University Computer Science Department Industry Advisory Board, bridging the gap between classroom education and high-impact industry careers.
Alongside her corporate leadership, she serves on the Board of Trustees for Blind Industries and Services of Maryland (BISM) and is pursuing a Doctorate of Technology at Purdue University, focusing on AI ethics and community-centered solutions. Rose is passionate about leveraging technology as a tool for economic opportunity, mentorship, and positive societal change.
Kevin Lawver
Kevin Lawver is a seasoned technology leader, software engineer, and startup advisor with decades of experience building scalable web applications and engineering teams. He has held senior engineering leadership roles at companies such as AOL and Gusto and is deeply involved in the Savannah technology ecosystem as a mentor and community builder. Kevin is passionate about helping developers grow their careers and strengthening local tech communities.
Danielle Cummings, PhD
Dr. Danielle Cummings is a Computer Systems Researcher for the Department of Defense. She is also the founder and committee chair of Black Women in Computing, a community focused on increasing the number of black women and other minorities in computing-related fields. She is a former instructor for Girls Who Code, and frequently hosts and participates in various STEM-based educational programs targeting minority youth. Danielle holds a B.A. in Computer Science and a B.A. in Art from The Ohio State University, an M.S. in Software Engineering from the University of Houston, Clear Lake, and a Ph.D. in ComputerScience from Texas A&M University.
Jackie Kazil, PhD
Dr. Jackie Kazil is a data scientist, civic technologist, and educator known for her work in open data, analytics, and public sector innovation. She has worked with government agencies and organizations to leverage data for transparency, policy insights, and public impact. Jackie is also the co-author of Data Wrangling with Python, helping professionals and students build practical data science skills.
Cheryl Swanier, PhD
Dr. Cheryl Swanier is a cybersecurity educator, researcher, and advocate for diversity in computing. She serves as a professor and leader in cybersecurity education and is the founder of the nonprofit Black Women in Computing, which supports and empowers women pursuing careers in technology. Her work focuses on expanding access to computing education and building inclusive pathways into cybersecurity and tech careers.
Suryadip Chakraborty, PhD
Dr. Suryadip Chakraborty is a technology professional specializing in data engineering, machine learning, and large-scale data systems. His work focuses on designing intelligent systems that transform complex data into meaningful insights for organizations. He is passionate about mentoring students interested in AI, analytics, and emerging technologies.
